Lots of Macros..

On Tuesday it got up to 60's degrees and all of the snow went bye-bye.
So yesterday it snowed again, we got almost a whole foot of it and I am so sore from all of the shoveling...
Here are some macros from outside today..

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup softened butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
3/4 cup raisins
3/4 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350.

Sift flour, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamoninto a medium bowl and set aside

In a stand mixer, cream butter and sugars on medium speed for several until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla until combined.

Add flour mixture and mix on low just to combine. Stir in oats, raisins, and chocolate chips.

Scoop out tablespoon-sized balls of dough. Place on cookie sheets about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 12-14 minutes, rotating cookie sheets halfway through. The cookies are done when golden.

Makes about 4 dozen cookies.

I will definitely be making these again! The whole family loved them so they will probably be back in the house soon :)

Project Rewind ~ Week 4

I can actually say that this was posted on Monday, at least I can if I can finsih it in the next half hour, so here we go!

Last monday was so so cold, single digits and no digits. I had some candles to make things a little cozy.

Along with the freezing cold, there were some really strong winds. On Tuesday I went out to find a big glass door on the ground shattered.

You may have already seen this picture a time or two, but here it is again. On Wednesday we got more snow and it was so pretty outside!

Thursday was a rare day. Ronnie actually stayed still long enough for me to get a few pictures!

Here I am talking about this amazing apple cinnamon cake again. I mean wow, it was so good I made it two days in a row. Recipe here.

On Saturday the sun was shining into my room and looking really cool. And I somehow got the idea to take some pictures of my eye.

Yes another barn photo. On Sunday I was supposed to have ODP so we drove the long drive for it and realized when we got there that it had been cancelled. Oops... We went shopping and I finally got some ramekins for some mini chicken pot pies! This was taken right after it stopped snowing.

Whoo! Thats like record time for writing a post. I hope you come back tomorrow to see some textures...

SHS 1.26.12.

Hello hello! Lots of color this week, I am lovin' it! I have been working a whole lot on my blog design because I can't seem to get a design that feels like 'me'. So please bare with me on this little design journey!

I recently got some washi tape for some decorating purposes and one of the green ones I got is a little bit lace like.
Lace
When I hear 'bling' I think sparkly, pink, shiny. And I don't do anything quite like that. But I do have some necklaces that I love to wear, this one being one of my favorites.
Bling

A wooden barn. I used this photo in my wordless wednesday post and was disappointed that I barely got any views because I love this picture and wanted to show it off a little :)
Wood

My pretty girl is not super fuzzy but I think of cats in general as fuzzy so that what I'm going with..
Fuzzy

For this prompt I automatically thought back to my second week of SHS ever. When this was one of the prompts, and I made what I called a chicken foot out of fluffy socks... Wow who knew I could be so creative. That means I have been participating in SHS for almost a year and have skipped only 2-3 weeks.
That is pretty awesome I think.

These are all my scarves hung up on my bedroom wall, love them!

Here is the photo I used for the prompt last time.

Apple-Cinnamon Coffee Cake

Hello hello! So I just made this a little while ago and I am in love with it. It is amazing. So I am here to share the wonderful recipe with you and then you can go make it right away!

Apple-Cinnamon Coffee Cake

Serves 12

Cake:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 cup diced peeled apple (I used Gala)
Cooking spray

Streusel:
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons chilled butter, cut into small pieces

1. Preheat over to 350.

2. To prepare cake, lightly spoon 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour into dry measuring cups; level with knife. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon, stirring with a whisk. Make a well in center of mixture. Combine milk, melted butter, vanilla, and egg, stirring with a whisk; add to flour mixture, stirring just until moist. Fold in apple. Pour batter into an 8-inch square baking pan coated with cooking spray.

3. To prepare streusel, combine brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, cut in butter with 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle streusel evenly over batter. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until a wooden pick comes out clean.

Cool 5-10 minutes. I then sprinkled powdered sugar over the top.

So, YUM! This took maybe 8 minutes to prepare. So its super easy and delicious!

Birthday Cake

Hello ladies (and possibly gentlemen)! A Couple days ago it was my little sisters birthday and I made her a cake with some fancy(ish) frosting and I didn't really like how it turned out, same goes for the pictures I took! For the first one, I don't think I really like it but at the same time I kind of like the blurred effect?
Please let me know what you think my feelings won't be hurt if you don't like it.

Here is a shot of it from above.

So what do you think?

Single Digits

It. Is. So. Cold.
It is supposed to get down to -5 tonight, and it was colder last night. It is supposed to start warming up tomorrow the high is 11 with the chance of some very light snow.
On a second note, I checked out this book from the library today, its called Simply Beautiful Photographs and is so awesome I have fallen in love with it. There are some especially awesome summer pictures in it they are almost making me drool. Weird but totally true.
Okay here are some pictures!

Today I have edited the same picture twice, one cold looking and one with warmer colors.

This was taken last week but it pretty much looks the same now. The sun is out but its not doing anything to make it warmer. I think this pretty much says winter.

This version on the other hand looks more like everything is melting (don't let it fool you...) and I personally like this version more.

This is the first winter I have ever looked forward too and it was good with a few good blizzards but I am so ready for Spring! As you may be able to tell from my new header...
