SHS 4.13.13.

This got turned into a baby chicks edition when I realized I basically didn't have any of the prompts... But I think these all fit the prompts somehow, I hope. And I don't think anyone will mind. I mean, don't you all want to oooh and aaah over some adorable little baby chick pictures? I know I would!

Total, there are 22 adorable chicks.

A little Ameraucana :)

One big happy family!

This little black one is a Ameraucana/mystery mix. She will probably look like the little hen triplets I had :)

So there are a couple Ameraucanas, some barred rocks, some mixes, and a ton of rohde island reds! And then I am also getting 5 or so buff orpingtons (I have never had any so I am super duper excited!)!

Splishy Splashy...

1. We might get 2 dozen chicks from our neighbor today. I am so excited!!! They are ameraucana/barred rock/rohde island red mix so they will most likely be very interesting looking!

2. It snowed today. Its already gone but that is not the point! The point is that it is April and it is snowing, which is wrong. I do have some tulips coming up, but my sisters goats think that it is a good idea to eat them, naughty goats.

3. We do not have and turquoise around here, but we do have lots of splash! Raining for a whole week straight will do that.

4. I will try to get some real spring photos for you all to share nest Friday when the nurture prompt is Green. There actually is some of that around here...

5. Seeing and reading about Nicki's spring and gorgeous weather is making me think that I need to move somewhere where Spring actually happens before May or June. Any ideas of where? Not California!

*UPDATE* Me and my big sister are just about to go and get the baby chicks!!! Soooo excited.

Stormy Letters...

Dear weather: Really? Rain for the past week and now freezing rain, and then sometime today it is supposed to start snowing! 4-6 inches of snow in April should not be allowed.

Dear freezing rain: You made for some totally awesome pictures (and lots of them!). But since when is it nice to weigh down the trees so much that they snap, crack, break and make loud noises?

Dear Spring: I've been sending you letters for the past four weeks asking where you are and you have just decided not to respond? That is just plain rude.

Dear Blog Friends: If you have any blog posts with sun, flowers and green or just any Springy stuff, feel free to leave me the link so I can visit and pretend that Spring is actually coming.

Dear Wonderful Neighbor: On Tuesday you came by and said how sorry you were that you were way on vacation when our fire happened. Then you offered to give us two dozen baby chicks who were starting to hatch as you were talking. Oh my gosh! I was basically speechless as you can imagine. And managed to ask you what kind they were and when you said ameraucana/barred rock/rohde island red  mix I literally squealed. THANK YOU.

Dear baby chicks: Oh yayy!!! I am soo soo excited for you little guys! I basically haven't had any of you for a year, and even then it was only like 3 of you! I can't wait to have a zillion photo shoots :)

Dear Hens: The only reason you are still here is because you were in our 'hospital ward' in the basement when the fire happened. For that I am so happy :) And soon you will have little friends to play with!

Dear Pinterest: I love you.

Testing...

hello?! is this thing working?

Cinnamon Sugar Muffins

Hello everyone...its is muffin time!

OK say I on accident used one egg instead of two. Do you think that would ruin the recipe? Because that is what I did. And they didn't turn out too well. The texture was all wrong and that is all my fault. I plan on making these again with the right number of eggs and I'm pretty sure it will make them so much better!

P.S. Thank you to Kimberly for the idea to just make my own recipe card! Since blogger doesn't have a add on like Wordpress I have been searching for a solution and apparently I don't have the brains to think of something so simple?

Texture Wednesday

So it has been raining for the past couple days, it sucks. Everyone is cooped up inside with cabin fever driving each other crazy. Especially us girls being loud and slightly obnoxious. Then last night we get an ice storm it is really cool yet not good because everything is coated in ice and looks totally cool and makes for some awesome pictures (come back tomorrow to see them!) but trees are falling over which is not too awesome. But anyway, here are some textured photos!

Nurture Spring...

I don't play around with photos nearly as much as I used too. I have actually grown into a stage where I don't actually want to edit my pictures at all, I still do though. One thing I've almost never done to my photos is convert them to black and white. I am actually hoping to start dabbling some here and there, and I want to know what you all think! If any of you have any tips on black and white photography I would love to hear!
Okay picture time.

I realized that when planning this post that it would mean easter eggs two days in a row which I really didn't want to do. But since we don't have yellow here yet, I didn't have much of a choice.

Instead of doing full on black and white I did focal black and white, so there was still color.

I'm not really sure if I like it or not. But I'm working on it :)

So, any black and white tips?

2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup cranberrys/craisins

Preheat oven to 375.
Stir first 3 ingredients together, set aside.
Cream butters and sugars together until fluffy.
Add vanilla and egg. Beat well.
Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Mix well.
Add chocolate chips and cranberrys.

These were good, especially if you like cranberrys!

Easter/Spring Letters

Hello! You may noticed that I redesigned my blog (again).
If you don't recall what it looked like maybe this will refresh your memory:

I liked it but I get bored with designs very quickly and feel the need to change them up.
So it is definitely a good thing that I can do all the html myself otherwise I would be spending a lot of money!
Anyway you can all go take a look around if you like, I am finally working on updating my about me page!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Spring: Thank you for finally being on your way. Almost all the snow is melted, there are hints of green, and the soccer fields are clear.

Dear Easter: You were a good one, it was very low-key but fun (and delicious). Thank you to my dad who had the brilliant idea to hide my candy in the vacuum.

Dear Soccer: Its almost time. We could go outside and play now but it would tear the fields up and we would get all muddy. Maybe next week?

Dear Cold: I hate being sick. I want to go outside and do stuff but I can't if I don't have any energy!

Dear Weather: You are supposed to get up in the 50's today. YAY! Even though I'm sick I will still go sit outside, and maybe read a book.

Pastel Texture Tuesday

Hello all! If you haven't read my Sunday post yet I would really appreciate it if you did...

On another note, how was your Easter?? I as usual ate to much candy. For the last couple years my mom has been putting out candy in those really big yogurt containers and then myd ad hides them in really hard to find spots. This year mine was in the vacuum. It was squeezed in there so tight that when I finally managed to open it my candy exploded out and was all over the place. I still ate it.
